About Us:

Rooted in History,
Open to Today

Christ Episcopal Church has been part of the Chippewa Falls story since 1866. Our earliest members gathered in homes and storefronts, carrying with them a simple dream: a community centered in prayer, fellowship, and service. By 1874, that dream took shape with a wooden church on Bay Street, then known as Zion Church. In 1882, we were renamed Christ Church—a name that has remained through every season since.

When fire destroyed the original building in 1897, the people of Christ Church rebuilt quickly and faithfully. By December of the same year, the current stone Gothic Revival church was dedicated, complete with stained glass, wood tracery, and a 1,280-pound bell that still rings over the city today.

For more than 150 years, this church has been a steady presence in Chippewa Falls. Through the logging era, the growth of industry, and countless changes in the city we love, Christ Church has remained a place where people come to:

  • Celebrate life’s joys, from weddings to baptisms

  • Find comfort in times of loss

  • Mark the seasons with Christmas candlelight, Easter joy, and holy days throughout the year

  • Grow in faith through Scripture, worship, and community

Generations of Faithful Presence

A Place for You

We are a small but welcoming congregation. Many of us are lifelong residents of the Chippewa Valley, while others are newcomers finding a spiritual home here. Whether you’re returning to church after years away, visiting for the first time, or simply curious—you are welcome.

At Christ Church, you’ll find:

  • Worship that is traditional yet warm

  • Community that is authentic and caring

  • A place to connect your story to a bigger one

Looking Ahead

Our church is historic, but it is not a museum. We continue to grow in faith, serve our neighbors, and carry forward the mission that began in 1866: to be a community of prayer, compassion, and hope for Chippewa Falls.

You have a place here. Come as you are—there’s room for you at Christ Church.
